UNDERSTANDING TELTONIKA’S TRACKING DEVICE NAMING

30 de septiembre de 2025

As Teltonika’s product portfolio continues to grow, we have introduced a new and more structured naming policy for our FT platform trackers. The goal is to make the model names more systematic and informative, allowing clients to identify quickly each device’s purpose, features, and technical capabilities, as every symbol in the name follows a clear logic.

Device name structure at a glance

Our device naming system is designed to bring clarity and consistency across Teltonika’s telematics FT platform product portfolio. By interpreting the device model’s name, you can:

  • Identify a device’s core features easily

  • Choose the right model for your business needs

Each GPS tracker name consists of six characters, and each character or group of them carries specific information. Platform (symbols #1, #2)

The first two letters indicate the platform & industry:

  • FT – fleet telematics

  • AT – asset telematics

Connectivity (symbol #3)

  • C – 4G LTE Cat 1 network

  • M – 4G LTE Cat M1 network

For example: FTC921 → F = Fleet, T = Telematics, C = 4G LTE Cat 1 network

Product category (symbol #4)

This number defines the product category, general functions, and target applications of the device.

For example: FTC921 → The fourth character "9" means the tracker belongs to the BASIC category.

Product series (symbols #4, #5)

The combination of these digits indicates the device series, grouping trackers with shared features or use cases. They describe how products are unique compared to other models in the same category. Typically, these differences are visually distinctive or function-specific, such as variations in pinout, casing, internal battery, or mounting method.

For example: FTx92 series includes models like FTC920 and FTM927, as they share a common base, but may differ in connectivity or some features (see the table below).

Device model (symbol #6)

The final digit defines the exact hardware configuration, including:

  • Voltage range

  • Bluetooth® support

  • Dead reckoning capabilities

For example: FTC921 → Number “1” means it supports 10-90 V and does not include Bluetooth® or dead reckoning.
