- NEW TELTONIKA TELEMATICS SOLUTION – TELTONIKA DUALCAM
A new video solution Teltonika DualCam with a dual camera that records views in both directions to provide evidence More News 2/24/2026 TELEMATICS JOURNAL VOL. 9: TAKING THE LEAD 2/4/2026 WEBINAR: OEM TELEMATICS IN E-MOBILITY INDUSTRY 12/9/2025 FT PLATFORM EXPANDS TO NORTH AMERICA NEW TELTONIKA TELEMATICS SOLUTION – TELTONIKA DUALCAM 7 January 2021 We are happy to present you the first Teltonika Telematics video solution – Teltonika DualCam the advanced tracker with a dual camera ! Teltonika DualCam records view in both directions – the front, i.e. what is happening on the road, and the back, i.e. the driver and the passengers if they are present. By capturing other traffic participants, filming the front of a vehicle is invaluable in cases of car accidents. Meanwhile, recording the interior of a car gives a clear understanding of what is going on inside the vehicle. The major advantage - videos and event photos transfer to a server, thus providing evidence of road accidents that occurred because of technical failures, careless driving or other incidents punishable by law. With this video telematics solution, you will have detailed evidence of incidents, and the handling of a traffic accident will be much simpler and faster. Also, a video can be requested by sending SMS / GPRS command based on certain events received to a server – including but not limited to Green driving, Idling detection, Unplug detection, Towing detection, or Geofence, etc., and showing a specific time of recording, i.e. timestamp. Up to 60 seconds length records can be sent to a server. When driving a vehicle, the dual camera is constantly filming and storing video footage to MicroSD cards with a capacity of 64GB and a recording time of up to 72 hours. Teltonika DualCam connects to FMC125 via RS232 interface, videos are created in 720p resolution, and High Efficiency Video Coding H265 provides good video quality while maintaining a small file size and ensuring a high transfer rate. KEY FEATURES Video send triggering – ensure the transfer of video or photo captures of events that may occur on the road, e.g. crash or the triggering of DIN1 / DIN2 (panic button, seat belts, etc.). Video/photo upon request - available from both cameras with SMS/GPRS command to receive video or picture of all scenarios, such as green driving, idling detection, unplug detection, towing detection, or geofence, etc. Send photos periodically - it can send pictures to the server automatically at a specified time interval. It is already on sale – contact your sales manager and be the first to try out the new Teltonika DualCam solution! Learn more about our new device here . LIKE THIS STORY? Share it with friends! Enjoy enhanced performance and new features More News 2/24/2026 TELEMATICS JOURNAL VOL. 9: TAKING THE LEAD 2/4/2026 WEBINAR: OEM TELEMATICS IN E-MOBILITY INDUSTRY 12/9/2025 FT PLATFORM EXPANDS TO NORTH AMERICA BOOST GPS TRACKERS WITH THE BASE FIRMWARE 03.29 UPDATE 28 November 2023 Teltonika GPS trackers can do much more than just provide coordinates. Businesses can use tracking data to improve fleet efficiency, reduce operating costs, ensure compliance, safety, etc. All of this comes from the heart of the device – its firmware, the place where the customised solutions are transformed into capabilities and opportunities for the end users. The BASE firmware 03.29 update is a major step forward in this process, providing even more capabilities and opportunities for our customers. EXPANDING THE CAPABILITIES OF TRACKERS The update offers a wider range of hardware support, and the list of devices is still growing and can be found on the Wiki . It includes models, such as our best-selling FMC920 , FMC130 , and FMC230 . The extension of hardware support ensures consistency of functionality and compatibility between different Teltonika vehicle GPS trackers. This is very important for users who have different devices in their fleet - the latest updates can be applied to all devices at the same time on the FOTA WEB platform, simplifying the process by using one firmware for multiple tracking devices, noticeably saving time and effort. In addition, with the click of an update button, our customers can unlock the rich feature set that was previously only available on request. For example, the SECO functionality , which helps to control the fuel pump to completely stop a vehicle driven by unauthorised personnel, the Backup tracker functionality , which doubles the security of a vehicle, GNSS Jamming scenario or revised blacklist functionality, which helps to block devices from working on the specific operator, are now available without any additional intervention. Going further, thanks to the Proximity Events that come with this firmware, we are extending our ability to find out when trailers approach and/or leave the warehouse, when tools are being loaded in or out, how much time the waste collection vehicle spends near each container and similar use cases. Best of all, all these improvements are completely free, helping you to lead the industry with Teltonika products! We guarantee hassle-free future updates, making it seamless to keep your BASE firmware up to date with additional enhancements. - NEW TAMPER-PROOF TAT240 FOR MAXIMUM SAFETY OF YOUR ASSETS
The new tamper-proof Teltonika TAT240 asset tracker with magnetic mounting ensures your assets are accounted for and protected More News 2/24/2026 TELEMATICS JOURNAL VOL. 9: TAKING THE LEAD 2/4/2026 WEBINAR: OEM TELEMATICS IN E-MOBILITY INDUSTRY 12/9/2025 FT PLATFORM EXPANDS TO NORTH AMERICA NEW TAMPER-PROOF TAT240 FOR MAXIMUM SAFETY OF YOUR ASSETS 8 January 2024 Teltonika Telematics unveils the cutting-edge TAT240 asset tracker with tamper detection and 4G LTE Cat 1 connectivity for maximum asset safety. Joining the time-tested TAT140 and TAT100 in our family of asset trackers, the TAT240 model ensures a higher chance of recovery for stolen equipment. RELIABLE TAMPER DETECTION The tamper-proof tracker detects and alerts you immediately if the device is removed from an item it's tracking. This ensures maximum safety for valuable assets, minimising losses, and increasing profits. Powered by advanced magnetic technology, the TAT240 guarantees reliable protection against theft and unwanted interference, whether it's construction equipment, vehicles or goods. Rest assured that your assets are accounted for and taken care of. EASY MAGNETIC MOUNTING The TAT240 also comes with a magnetic mounting holder to simplify the installation process for users. This innovative approach means you can easily attach the device to a metal surface without the need for additional tools or equipment. This not only ensures secure mounting but also provides a seamless experience, saving you time and effort in the set-up process. The magnetic holder provides a secure and stable hold, giving you the peace of mind that your valuable assets are being tracked with the utmost ease. VALUE-ADDING TRACKING OPTIONS Movement-based tracking: TAT240 focuses on the prevention and recovery of items in case of theft. If an asset is stolen, it's usually on the move. So, you can choose to track only when an object is moving. This reduces unnecessary event records when it is stationary and increases relevant records when in motion. Example: If a car is stolen, it's likely to be on the move. If it's parked for a long time, tracking becomes less relevant. In such cases, turning off ’on stop’ records preserves battery power and results in more total records while in motion. Movement events: This feature immediately sends a movement event with the last known coordinates as soon as the asset starts moving, without using power for a new GNSS fix (if a previous fix was successful). This speeds up the process and reduces battery consumption for data transmission. Example: When a user rents a construction generator and picks it up, the TAT240 can send a movement event with the last known coordinates without performing a new GNSS fix. This saves battery power and ensures fast and accurate location transmission to the server, allowing the rental company to efficiently monitor the movement of its assets. Weekly scheduler: Track assets only during high-risk periods for theft, such as working hours or weekends. This approach prolongs the life of the device and discourages unauthorised personal use of company goods or vehicles outside working hours. For assets that are mostly stationary, consider minimal tracking, possibly as infrequent as once a week. Example: A customer who wants to prevent employees from using company cars for personal purposes at weekends can use the scheduler to track cars only during this time. TAT240 PAGE FAQ What unique asset security features does the TAT240 offer? The TAT240 features tamper detection and 4G LTE Cat 1 connectivity, ensuring maximum security for your assets by alerting you immediately if the device is removed from the item it's tracking. How does the TAT240 provide reliable protection? Teltonika TAT240 uses advanced magnetic technology for tamper protection, making it highly reliable for protecting valuable assets such as construction equipment, vehicles or goods from theft and unwanted interference. What is the installation process for the TAT240? The TAT240 model is supplied with a magnetic mounting bracket for easy installation. This allows it to be easily attached to metal surfaces without the need for additional tools, ensuring a secure and stable installation. How does the TAT240 movement tracking work? Teltonika TAT240 movement-activated tracking focuses on the prevention and recovery of stolen items. It is possible to choose different record sending periods when the asset is in movement and when it is at a standstill, reducing unnecessary recordings and saving battery power. LIKE THIS STORY? - Autoscan Feature Now Available For FMx150 And FMx250 Devices
The new Autoscan feature for Teltonika FMx150 and FMx250 devices automates configuration, enabling faster, easier, and hassle-free installations More News 2/24/2026 TELEMATICS JOURNAL VOL. 9: TAKING THE LEAD 2/4/2026 WEBINAR: OEM TELEMATICS IN E-MOBILITY INDUSTRY 12/9/2025 FT PLATFORM EXPANDS TO NORTH AMERICA AUTOSCAN FEATURE AVAILABLE WITH FMx150 AND FMx250 DEVICES 7 August 2025 Efficient installation is critical in telematics, especially in the cases of large fleets or when working with multiple vehicle models. Recognising the common challenges that installers face in the field, Teltonika has introduced the Autoscan feature to the FMx150 and FMx250 devices. This functionality significantly simplifies the device setup process, reducing manual work and ensuring faster, more reliable deployments. HOW AUTOSCAN IMPROVES INSTALLATION EFFICIENCY Previously, installing FMx150 and FMx250 series trackers involved multiple steps – either through Teltonika Configurator or FOTA WEB. It was necessary to select the vehicle make and model manually, upload the appropriate OEM configuration file, and ensure successful synchronisation. This process was prone to delays, especially in projects where installers lacked access to FOTA WEB or the related training. With the introduction of Autoscan, these challenges are effectively eliminated. Once the device is mounted, powered on, connected to GPRS, and the vehicle’s ignition is turned on, Autoscan automatically takes care of the rest. It identifies the vehicle's CAN protocol, compiles the appropriate OEM file, and completes the configuration process via FOTA WEB – all in the background, without any manual input. By turning a multi-step setup into a one-step operation, Autoscan provides an easier and faster way to get devices up and running, even in diverse or rapidly changing vehicle fleets. The system is also self-learning, improving detection and configuration accuracy with every installation. This not only benefits the current deployment but enhances future installations as well, creating a more intelligent and adaptive setup process over time. BENEFITS FOR YOUR BUSINESS The introduction of Autoscan in Teltonika FMx150 and FMx250 devices offers multiple advantages for your business operations: Faster installation – devices are configured automatically after installation, reducing time spent per vehicle and increasing deployment speed. Lower training requirements – installation becomes accessible to less experienced personnel, making fleet expansion and third-party installer use more efficient. Improved compatibility – even if the exact vehicle model is not supported, Autoscan selects the closest available configuration, enabling broader usage. No FOTA WEB access needed – technicians do not need FOTA WEB accounts to complete configuration, minimising administrative overhead. Self-optimising system – with every new installation, Autoscan improves its accuracy and performance, benefiting current and future projects. Reduced risk of configuration errors – automation helps eliminate human error, ensuring the correct setup is applied every time. In conclusion, Autoscan represents a significant step forward in device usability and installation efficiency. By removing the need for manual configuration and enabling a fully automated setup process, Teltonika FMx150 and FMx250 devices become even more powerful tools for fleet operators, integrators, and service providers. If you are ready to simplify your installations and take advantage of this new functionality, please contact your local Teltonika account manager for more information. LEARN MORE SUPPORTED VEHICLES FAQ Can existing FMx150 and FMx250 devices be upgraded to use the Autoscan feature? Yes, existing FMx150 and FMx250 GPS trackers can support the Autoscan feature by updating to the latest tracker and CAN CPU firmware versions. Fleet operators interested in enabling Autoscan on their current devices should contact their Teltonika account manager for detailed information about firmware availability, compatibility, and the upgrade process. Does Autoscan replace the need for manual configuration entirely? For most standard use cases, yes. Autoscan handles the core configuration automatically. However, for highly customised solutions or specific use cases requiring additional settings, manual adjustments via Teltonika Configurator or FOTA WEB may still be applied as needed. How does Autoscan handle vehicles not officially listed as supported? Autoscan is designed to identify the closest match from available OEM configurations, even if the exact vehicle model is not in the supported list. This allows more flexibility in installations and expands coverage across a wider range of vehicle makes and models. The system continuously improves as more installations are completed. Does Autoscan support electric vehicles? Yes, Autoscan is designed to support both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric cars. However, compatibility may vary depending on the make and model. You can always double-check it in the up-to-date supported vehicle list . How long does the Autoscan process take after installation? In most cases, Autoscan completes the vehicle detection and configuration process within 20 to 60 seconds after the device is installed, powered on, connected to GPRS, and the vehicle’s ignition is turned on. Instead of relying on fixed rates, many companies are now adopting behaviour-based models, where real driving data determines premiums. Thanks to advances in artificial intelligence and data analysis, this shift is accelerating across the world. DATA-DRIVEN PREMIUMS “The biggest changes in insurance telematics we see are the move from flat rate pricing to behaviour-based models. Accurate, tamper-proof data speeds up claim resolution and significantly reduces fraudulent or exaggerated cases. It protects insurers’ profitability and strengthens customer trust,” says Agnius Praniulis, product owner at Teltonika. “In some regions governments are introducing regulations that make driver monitoring mandatory. At the same time, AI integration makes it easier to analyse data, thus, this shift is only accelerating. Accurate, tamper-proof data speeds up claim resolution and significantly reduces fraudulent or exaggerated cases. It protects insurers’ profitability and strengthens customer trust,” Agnius adds. To support the evolving market needs, Teltonika introduced FTx88 series – insurance-focused GPS trackers designed for reliability and simplicity. Devices include all necessary hardware and firmware features for usage-based insurance (UBI), such as trip tracking, eco-driving evaluation, speeding and idling detection, and crash reporting. What is more, trackers are battery-mounted, IP69K-rated , and highly power-efficient. “For insurers, accuracy, reliability, and the ability to customise features are crucial,” Agnius notes. “We provide all required accessories directly from our manufacturing facilities and offer custom firmware development when needed. Also, our continuous technical support helps to ensure long-term performance.” THE AMERICAS – PRIORITISING RELIABILITY AND EASY INSTALLATION Driven by demand for plug-and-play solutions, the insurance telematics market continues to expand, in both South and North America. “Local companies are looking for GPS trackers that can be installed quickly without complex wiring or setup,” explains Gediminas Leknickas, continental development coordinator for Americas at Teltonika. “The installation of a wired GPS tracker can cost up to 150 USD, so a simple process is crucial. Moreover, not everyone can connect the wires correctly and finding an experienced specialist can be difficult. With FTx88 series, companies can avoid additional spending and do not need an expert, as almost anyone can install these devices,” Gediminas explains. Another important requirement for insurers is accurate odometer data. The ability to capture real OEM odometer readings is particularly valuable for pay-as-you-drive models, where mileage precision directly influences pricing. Although plug-and-play devices such as FTx88 series cannot read OEM data directly from the vehicle, their improved GNSS performance – with twice as many visible satellites – enables precise virtual odometer calculations. In practice, this provides mileage accuracy comparable to data read directly from the vehicle. Eco-driving features such as monitoring harsh braking, acceleration, and idling are increasingly popular, enabling insurers to design reward-based programmes that promote safer driving. “Features offered by FTx880 trackers help insurers reduce claims and encourage responsible behaviour, and at the same time create loyalty among drivers who see real benefits from their safe habits,” Gediminas adds. AUSTRALIA – EMERGING OPPORTUNITIES IN USAGE-BASED INSURANCE Australia’s insurance-telematics sector is showing strong growth potential. “UBI adoption is rising rapidly, with some reports indicating nearly 25% growth,” says Letitia Gozman, regional marketing manager at Teltonika. “While the market is less mature than in the United States or Europe, insurers are actively exploring telematics solutions to differentiate their offerings and manage risks more effectively.” This momentum comes at a critical time. Australia is facing a worsening road-safety situation , with more than 1,300 fatalities recorded in 2024 and an 18.5% rise in deaths since the launch of the National Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030. Many incidents involve young, inexperienced drivers, underlining the need for targeted, behaviour-focused measures. According to Letitia, insurers also face unique structural challenges, including rising customer turnover and complex state-specific compulsory third-party insurance rules. At the same time, Australians are dealing with steep increases in premiums, which average around A$929 per policy but can reach several thousand dollars in major cities. Cost-of-living pressures have pushed many drivers to downgrade or cancel their cover, leaving a growing share of vehicles uninsured or underinsured. “Telematics provides a strategic advantage by enabling personalised premiums that reward safe driving, helping reduce churn and improve satisfaction,” Letitia explains. It also supports wider affordability goals by improving risk differentiation, reducing high-severity claims and easing upward pressure on premiums over time. Fraud prevention is another notable benefit. “By collecting precise crash data, GPS position and driver behaviour before an incident, insurers can reduce fraudulent claims and process legitimate ones faster,” she says. “This transparency benefits both insurers and customers.” Looking ahead, Letitia sees opportunities beyond personal insurance. “Commercial fleets offer a natural entry point for telematics, allowing insurers to lower claims and enhance road safety at scale. However, the biggest growth potential lies in the consumer market, as awareness of UBI products increases and personalised risk assessment becomes standard practice.” She concludes: “With reliable, feature-rich devices that integrate seamlessly into backend systems and enable real-time driver scoring, Teltonika is well positioned to support Australian insurers as they expand their telematics programmes.” Facebook LinkedIn Copy link LIKE THIS STORY?
