  • Vehicle GPS Tracker For Pay As You Drive

Business model Pay As You Drive use case for the B2C segment utilising new generation compact OBD-II GPS trackers PAY AS YOU DRIVE INTRO As the market penetration of telematics companies in the B2C segment is rather limited, this use case is a great platform for telematics service providers to reach new target groups such as private car owners. Pay As You Drive is a fairly well-known business model that offers better risk management tools for insurance companies and better service quality and commercial conditions for drivers willing to install GPS trackers and comply with traffic rules. CHALLENGE The reason for the rather low B2C market penetration lies in some major challenges. Firstly, when it comes to doing business with private car owners, installation is often an issue. It is much easier to deal with fleets of 10+, 100+ or 500+ vehicles because you can manage the installations in bulk. On the other hand, when you have to install GPS tracking devices for customers in the B2C segment, each installation becomes a unique logistical operation. As a result, it is difficult to sell in bulk and scale up. Another issue is the accuracy of the data received from a vehicle. In the Pay As You Drive use case, one of the most important parameters is the total distance travelled, also known as odometer data. This information is usually based on GPS calculations. The accuracy of this is suitable for most applications, but it still has some limitations - driving in tunnels and other places where the GPS signal is blocked can affect the total mileage value. Also, in order to calculate the total distance travelled via GPS, the driver has to enter the first value manually and synchronise it later. This could become a significant administrative task. SOLUTION Teltonika Telematics offers a solution that helps to overcome both limitations - installation difficulty and data accuracy concerns. It consists of two main parts - the new generation compact OBD-II FMx003 series tracker and cloud-based VIN decoding combined with the OEM data request database. How it works - as an example, we take Teltonika FMC003 , the compact 4G LTE Cat 1/ GNSS/ Bluetooth® tracker with an OBD-II connector. It is the key component of this solution and makes installation as convenient and quick as possible. With some guidance, such as a quick start guide, almost anyone can set up this type of setup. This opens the door to the B2C segment, which is of great interest for insurance telematics. Also, FMC003 contains a rich feature set that comes with the FMB platform. One of the most important features needed in Pay As You Drive applications is the ability to analyse a driver’s performance – harsh acceleration, harsh braking and harsh cornering. This can be analysed with Overspeeding and Green Driving scenarios. The Green driving scenario is achieved by a built-in accelerometer. That means these events are being generated even when a GPS signal is not available. Crash detection is another helpful scenario for insurance companies included in the feature package of the FMC003 tracker. It is a practical solution that collects and analyses data right before the crash happened and during the crash. In addition, FMC003 has a unique feature that provides the driver with both Real Fuel and Real Odometer data. This means that a driver can now read real mileage data from their vehicle dashboard and get the correct data online. • Ignition Interlocking With Alcotester Check

Vehicle ignition interlocking utilising breathalyser, immobilizer scenario, 1-Wire technology and FMx125 series GPS tracker VEHICLE IGNITION INTERLOCKING WITH BREATHALYSER AND GPS TRACKER INTRO Alcohol remains the most commonly used substance and addiction in many countries. The fact is that drivers with high blood alcohol concentrations are at much greater risk of traffic accidents. It means more crashes, property losses, injuries, and deaths. That is why corporate fleet drivers’ breath testing routine alongside comprehensive vehicle tracking and data monitoring becomes not only an attractive option but a smart investment. CHALLENGE Did you know, according to the drunk driving statistics data collected by forbes.com , more than a quarter (25%) of all traffic-related deaths directly result from alcohol impairment? Every day in the USA alone, about 37 people die in drunk-driving crashes — that’s one person every 52 minutes, and it costs more than $132 billion each year. That is a colossal number and might be one of the biggest and continues for decades tragedies on the roads. The dangers of drinking and driving are many: slow reaction time, lack of coordination, reduced concentration, decreased vision, and inhibited judgment. Sadly, alcohol (or driving under the influence) has long been known as a roadway killer since the dawn of the motor industry. Inevitably, it results in higher insurance rates and taxes, human, medical and property costs. Not to mention, family, friends, and co-workers grieve, intense sadness, anger or even revenge. One of the strategies to prevent alcohol-impaired driving in corporate fleets is mandatory sobriety and breath testing procedures before starting vehicle ignition. To help fleet managers and business owners with that, Teltonika has successfully developed the 'Alcotester Check' functionality. SOLUTION It includes a driver’s authentication method based on the 1-Wire communication bus system combining a contactless Radio-frequency identification (RFID) card, 1-Wire RFID reader, immobilizer scenario , PROFESSIONAL category vehicle tracker Teltonika FMC125 and breathalyser Alcovisor Mercury for drivers’ blood alcohol content (aka BAC) limit checks and ignition interlocking. The latter communicates with a GPS device via serial port RS232 and a USB connector. The breathalyser uses an electrochemical fuel cell to measure the alcohol concentration from the sample of the expired breath from an individual (in this case - the driver). If alcohol is present, a corresponding voltage is generated from the fuel cell, which is proportional to the alcohol content of the sample provided. After that, the voltage level is converted to BAC respectively, which is then displayed. For a convenient power supply, it can be connected to a vehicle cigarette adaptor. Alcovisor Mercury model can perform two types of tests - ‘Screening Test’ (aka ‘Passive Mode’) to detect alcohol presence or absence (‘Alcohol Detected’ or ‘No Alcohol’) with a reusable sampling cup attached to sample port and ‘Standard Test’ (aka ‘Active Mode’) to get the accurate BAC results using a disposable mouthpiece attached to sample port. Because of practical measures, we utilise only the ‘Screening Test’ in this use case. How it works - both, the 1-Wire RFID reader and breathalyser have to be mounted inside the vehicle, connected to Teltonika GPS device and set up accordingly. To start a vehicle engine, two steps must be passed successfully, one after another - driver’s authentication and alcotester check routine. If any of them fail, the ignition starter will remain disconnected to prevent driving. The relevant events data and alert notifications will be initiated and sent to a dedicated server and FM platform to be monitored by fleet management and/or the person in charge. To get through, every fleet driver is given an RFID card with a unique factory-programmed 64-bit identification number. When starting a shift, a person has to authenticate itself by bringing an RFID card nearer to a 1-Wire RFID reader. If it is successful, the next step - the alcotester check procedure. To do so, a driver has to breathe in a reusable sampling cup attached to the sample port of a breathalyser. If alcohol is found in the breath sample, the alcotester check fails which stops immobilizer authorisation. Finally, if both steps, driver’s authentication and alcotester check, passed successfully, the ‘start of shift’ event electronic date and time stamp will be generated and registered, an ignition starter engaged. Vehicle driving is authorised, and an employee is welcome to start his/her duties. If not, vehicle driving remains restricted, and a driver has to follow an internal company procedure for this matter. When a shift has finished, and a driver is done for the day, the RFID card has to be touched to a 1-Wire RFID reader again to generate an ‘end of shift’ electronic stamp, and now vehicle ignition can be switched off for good. How to set up - to make the ignition interlock work correctly, FMC125 vehicle tracker has to be set up using Teltonika configurator . Firstly, the ‘Alcotester Check’ option has to be enabled within the ‘Immobilizer’ feature as shown below: Secondly, GPS tracker RS232 mode with breathalyser Mercury model has to be configured allowing corresponding data communication between two devices. To provide an electrical connection, USB connector pins TXD and GND of Alcovisor Mercury should be connected to RS232 port pins RXD and GND of FMC125 tracker accordingly. Also, the breathalyser unit has to be calibrated as advised by its manual. The vehicle ignition interlock method can be successfully applied for most corporate fleets using light vans: telecoms, internet and cable service providers, utility service businesses, postal offices, sanitation, construction, manufacturing and processing, non-food retail, wholesale companies and others. With the help of GPS trackers, the corporate fleet current status monitoring and maintenance routine can be turned into an automated process making sure that vehicles are kept in the right condition all the time. Model FMC125 alongside with LV-CAN200 adapter offers beneficial features to ensure smooth and efficient operations: CAN bus data readings, and many handy scenarios such as Green Driving, Over Speeding, Excessive Idling, Towing and Crash detection, Auto Geofence, Trip to name a few. Teltonika vehicle trackers firmware updates and configuration changes can be made using the recently renewed FOTA WEB tool too. It is a powerful software solution that helps to manage GPS devices swiftly and efficiently. To sum up, the ignition interlocking tackles a few significant challenges simultaneously - highly harmful drunk driving habits and incidents, drivers’ authentication, automated workforce time measuring, fleet vehicles tracking, monitoring, and management. TOPOLOGY BENEFITS Major risk factor, drunk driving, quick fix for good – driving under the alcohol influence problem is resolved in corporate fleets once and for all with a minimum effort and maximum results. Increased road safety - fewer alcohol-related road crashes, collisions, property losses, severe injuries and fatalities. Improved loss ratio and enterprise profitability - by utilising the ‘Alcotester Check’ feature, corporate fleets will improve drivers’ habits, discipline and safety, lessen risky driving behaviours, accidents, cargo losses, repairs, maintenance, insurance and medical expenses, and operational cost resulting in a better ROI, cash flow, and profits. • Battery Management System Monitoring In India

Optimise battery performance, ensure safety, estimate state of charge, protect against faults, and maximise BMS efficiency with FTx305 BATTERY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (BMS) MONITORING IN INDIA INTRO With the global trend towards the electrification of transport, the demand for batteries is skyrocketing in the major markets. However, it is necessary to ensure the safety of the electric vehicle by monitoring the Battery Management System (BMS). Teltonika offers a multifunctional e-mobility GPS tracker to ensure the safety of electric vehicle batteries, optimising their performance, reliability, and fault prevention. CHALLENGE According to Statista , electric two-wheeler (E2W) sales are on the rise. With the growing popularity and number of electric bikes and electric scooters, a series of incidents with e-vehicle batteries took place in India in 2022. Following the investigation, the government announced mandatory safety standards to be implemented in two steps. From 31 March 2023, AIS 156 (Phase II) certification is required, meaning that electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and quadricycles need to be fitted with smart battery management systems to meet the additional safety requirements. The GPS tracker combined with the BMS is essential to ensure the safety, reliability and fault tolerance of electric vehicle batteries. External short-circuiting, overcharging, over-discharging and over-temperature can lead to battery crash and rupture, vehicle breakdown, fire and explosion. It’s therefore vital that the battery is used according to established guidelines to meet warranty standards. For example, regular BMS monitoring and data logging helps OEMs track the causes of battery problems and provide evidence in the event of a warranty claim. In addition, rental companies want to have full control of their e-fleet remotely: perform engine cut-offs when user payments are overdue, know the location of the e-vehicle, monitor battery health and performance aspects, identify maintenance or repair issues, etc. Teltonika offers an e-mobility GPS tracker to ensure that the challenges of BMS monitoring are met. SOLUTION To solve this challenge, we chose FTx305 device series - the ultimate e-mobility GPS trackers for timely collection and monitoring of essential BMS data. This versatile tracking devices can be used with a wide range of electric vehicle (EV) batteries due to its wide voltage range of 10-97 V. Manual CAN functionality allows the tracker to read CAN data from the battery's ECU without the need to develop a custom CAN protocol. Manual CAN Commands functionality allows fleet managers to send configurable commands on the CAN network to perform specific actions available in the BMS functionality. How it works - to take full advantage of BMS monitoring, FTx305 needs to be connected to each EV battery in the fleet and configured according to a customer's needs. The e-mobility GPS tracker collects multiple real-time metrics, such as real-time location, sensor data, ignition on counter, tracker battery level, input/output data and with the help of Manual CAN functionality – CAN bus data - such as battery level, current, voltage, charge status, fault codes, etc. The information gathered is transmitted to the tracking platform via a GPRS network. This enables fleet managers to track each tracker-equipped battery and gather vital information about its operational status, correct/incorrect usage, location, etc. This allows them to detect battery problems at an early stage, streamline the malfunction diagnosis process and initiate predictive maintenance. The flexibility of the Manual CAN functionality allows fleet managers to choose which specific parameters they wish to read from a battery's ECU. It is possible to configure up to 70 periodic/requestable CAN IDs based on a manufacturer's protocol documentation to read RAW CAN data. By getting timely data on battery performance, it's possible to minimise unexpected failures and avoid downtime of EVs and machinery. The Manual CAN Commands functionality ensures two-way communication between the tracker and the BMS. Fleet managers can configure up to 10 Manual CAN Commands to be executed on the BMS side, ensuring maximum safety by responding immediately to any faulty alerts received from the BMS, such as over-temperature alerts. Through the cloud, FTx305 activates the BMS cut-off, immediately halting the supply of power from the battery. The BMS will then put the battery into sleep mode until the alarm is cleared, giving fleet owners peace of mind. The Manual CAN Commands functionality is widely used in rental applications. It allows battery owners to remotely initiate the BMS cut-off when rental payments are overdue. This gives Teltonika customers ownership of the battery packs and control of the ignition - the most important aspects of efficient rental solutions. In addition, if the BMS does not have a cut-off function in its internal circuit, FTx305 has a digital output (DOUT) function that can easily trigger the cut-off circuit and initiate the BMS cut-off precisely when required. Typically, the shutdown action is required when voltage levels fall below or rise above certain thresholds. This seamless interaction ensures the safety and optimum performance of the BMS. TOPOLOGY BENEFITS Increase safety and reliability - constantly monitor the battery's critical parameters to protect it from hazardous situations and reduce the risk of incidents. Predictive and timely maintenance - receive early warning signs of battery degradation or failure to take preventative action before safety or performance issues arise. Improve efficiency and save costs - improve battery efficiency and extend battery life to significantly reduce or eliminate unexpected costs. Warranty compliance - utilise the battery according to OEM guidelines to ensure warranty standards are met. Regulatory compliance – monitoring helps to comply with government regulations and avoid penalties, fines, and potential lawsuits that can damage a company's reputation and financial stability. SUCCESS STORY Here is one of the great examples of how efficient EV battery management can benefit businesses around the world. A postal service provider in Central Europe asked one of Teltonika Telematics customers to help them decarbonise their business by switching their delivery fleet entirely to electric vehicles. To make this transition even more sustainable and cost-effective, the customer focused on the battery state of health (SoH). The challenge was to analyse driver behaviour patterns, optimise e-fleet operations, ensure EVs last longer and save on operational costs. E-mobility GPS tracker TFT100, predecessor of FTx305 series, was configured to the specific vehicle protocol, and the Manual CAN functionality captured the Raw CAN data and sent it to the server for further analysis. It showed that the fleet was only using part of its capacity and not the full battery capacity. The customer was able to ensure predictive maintenance - the EV was not on the road if it could not complete the route, and warranty protection - the EV was always performing well and not exceeding its threshold. As a result, the value and benefits of this project were significant - 90% ROI and an average capital optimisation of €1.5 million per year by extending the EV's useful life to 11 years instead of the 10 originally planned. WHY TELTONIKA? We offer a wide range of tracking devices to suit various needs and applications. • Cold Chain Monitoring With FMx6 Series Trackers Copy

Learn how Teltonika PROFESSIONAL series vehicle GPS trackers provide critical information for cold chain supply monitoring COLD CHAIN MONITORING WITH FMX6 SERIES TRACKERS (JP) INTRO Cold chain supply is becoming an increasingly important part of logistics as many of our products are delivered frozen. Unfortunately, it can be a challenge for the fleet manager to monitor the temperature in the trailer as it travels, so ensuring the quality of the chilled goods becomes a real headache. Fortunately, GPS devices can help by providing the fleet manager with relevant information about the situation inside the reefer trailer. CHALLENGE In cold chain logistics, challenges can arise at 3 different stages. Firstly, the product could be damaged before it starts its journey, while it is not in the hands of the carrier. Secondly, its quality could deteriorate during transport due to incorrect temperature settings, refrigerator doors not being closed, condensation, etc. Thirdly, the condition of the goods may deteriorate once they are in the recipient's care because they may be stored in an inappropriate environment. All refrigerated goods need to be kept at a specific temperature throughout their journey. Even small changes in temperature can affect either the quality of the goods or the environment in which they are stored, which in turn can affect the products themselves. Incorrect temperature settings can increase the risk of microbial or mould growth in the hold, or if the temperature is too low, it can damage the product by forming larger groups of ice crystals on it. Another area that presents many challenges is the doors on reefer fridges. Damaged doors can fail to close completely, allowing warm temperatures in and cold temperatures out. Even if the temperature settings are correct, this will affect the temperature inside the reefer and the damage may be irreversible, costing the transport company a lot of money. This type of problem can even affect the safety of workers, as the inside of the trailer can become slippery or covered in unhealthy mould. It is also important to have accurate data about the environment in a trailer. The recipient of the goods, or a regulatory body, may ask for this data if the products are found to be damaged on delivery. And it would be a big problem if the data showed that the environment in which the products were stored had affected their quality. The fleet manager needs to know at all times that the goods are being stored in appropriate conditions to avoid potential difficulties with the recipient, and Teltonika Telematics can help. SOLUTION Teltonika PROFESSIONAL series vehicle GPS trackers FMC650 and FMM650 can read data from freezer trailer thermographs. This data would allow fleet managers to monitor the situation inside the reefer as it travels and give further instructions to the drivers if any changes need to be made. As a result, more goods would be stored in the reefer in proper conditions, ensuring that their quality does not deteriorate during transport. To further demonstrate the solution, we use FMC650 model. How it works - a freezer thermograph is a device that measures the temperature in the trailer, while also storing data about the environment in the reefer trailer for further use and analysis. Thermographs that our devices support have an RS232 communication line which can be connected to our FMC650 tracker via COM1/COM2 port. Once connected, our device can start monitoring and storing the data recorded by the thermograph. As the two devices are easy to connect and configure, it becomes a perfect solution for transport companies operating in the cold chain supply industry. In addition, Teltonika PROFESSIONAL series supports three different types of thermographs – Carrier DataCold 600, Thermo King Transcom 2, and Thermo King TouchPrint. FMC650 allows a fleet manager to monitor thermograph data live as the tracker sends this data directly to the server. As one of the main uses of the thermograph is to record temperature data, the GPS device also tracks this data. This leads to the possibility of changing some of the freezer settings while on the road. If the fleet manager notices that the temperature is too low or too high, he can call the driver and ask him to adjust the temperature in the reefer. This ensures that the goods are always stored in the proper environment. Thermographs also monitor the status of refrigerator doors and send data if the doors are not closed properly. FMC650 tracker also collects this data and sends it to the server. As with the temperature, a fleet manager can notify the driver that the fridge doors are not closed properly, and the driver can then close them to prevent potential damage to the goods, people in the surroundings or himself/herself. Thermographs also have specific alarms, such as a rapidly rising temperature in a refrigerated vehicle. In addition, Teltonika GPS devices can monitor these alarms and send a notification to the fleet manager that one or more alarms are active. Teltonika PROFESSIONAL series vehicle trackers can be configured to only track certain alarms. Above is a screenshot of Teltonika Configurator setup option. Please note that the exact set of features depends on the specific thermograph model. If, in the future, the fleet manager needs information about the environment inside the refrigerated trailer, this data can be stored on the server for later access. This functionality is useful if the recipient of the goods or regulatory bodies wants to know the environment in which the goods were stored during transportation. Teltonika PROFESSIONAL series trackers, namely FMC650 and FMM650, have been designed to help fleet managers meet the above challenges. With these GPS devices, we can offer a complete solution. Let's take FMC650 as an example to show you how. FMC650 (4G LTE Cat 1) tracker can be configured to generate specific events according to business needs. These events can have different priorities, so the fleet manager would see the events that are most important to them first. This is a handy feature that helps telematics service providers and integrators focus first on the events that are critical to the overall operation of a fleet. And let's not forget the other features and benefits of these PROFESSIONAL vehicle GPS trackers. They have an RS232 transparent mode that allows data to be easily read from external devices. FMC650 also has an internal 550 mAh battery, external GNSS and 4G antennas, 4 DINs and DOUTs, and its data transmission frequencies can be configured to send data according to different movement scenarios. • Temperature Control for Electronics Transport | Teltonika EYE Sensors & FMC234

Ensure safe delivery of sensitive electronics with Teltonika’s EN12830-certified EYE Sensors and FMC234 tracker. Get real-time temperature and humidity monitoring, precise ±0.5 °C accuracy, built-in data logs, and complete traceability to protect semiconductors, microchips, and lithium batteries. TEMPERATURE MONITORING OF ELECTRONICS INTRO In today’s fast-paced global market, the safe transportation of electronic goods has become increasingly important, and maintaining proper temperature is one of the key factors in ensuring that safety. Sensitive electronics – ranging from lithium-based components to advanced communication modules – require constant environmental oversight to maintain their performance, longevity, and reliability. CHALLENGE Electronic components, including semiconductors, batteries, and capacitors, are highly vulnerable to temperature and humidity changes. Prolonged exposure to high temperatures accelerates chemical degradation, reduces insulation resistance, and can permanently damage microchips or solder joints. At the same time, cold conditions can create condensation inside electronic devices, which may lead to brittleness or temporary malfunctions. When combined with high humidity or moisture, these conditions can cause more serious damage, such as corrosion, short circuits, or failure of the protective layers on circuit boards. According to Component Sense , the lifespan of electronic components drops by 50% for every 10°C rise in temperature above recommended levels, and excessive moisture can significantly accelerate failure modes. Without proper environmental controls, especially during long-distance transport or storage, businesses risk irreversible damage to valuable electronics. Many companies transporting sensitive electronics still rely on manual temperature checks using thermometers or handwritten logs. Insights from comparisons of manual and automated workflows show that manual methods are slower, require more labour, and are prone to human error caused by fatigue or distraction. Sometimes checks are performed only at fixed intervals, and short-term fluctuations in temperature or humidity often go undetected. These blind spots create a serious risk for semiconductors, microchips, and lithium batteries, where even brief exposure to unsuitable conditions can lead to irreversible damage, warranty claims, and costly delays. SOLUTION To overcome these challenges, Teltonika ensures the safe transportation of sensitive electronics by combining EYE Sensors EN12830 with a Teltonika FMC234 tracker. Together, they provide continuous environmental oversight of electronics during delivery. How it works - EYE Sensors' compact Bluetooth® Low Energy devices are placed directly inside packages or inside trailers. They automatically broadcast temperature and humidity data via Bluetooth. A Teltonika GPS tracker, FMC234, is installed inside the delivery vehicle or trailer, and it continuously scans for nearby EYE Sensors and receives their data. Then, the tracker transmits environmental data collected by the sensors to a remote server. FMC234 is equipped with a high-capacity 1,000 mAh internal battery, ensuring prolonged cargo monitoring even when external power is unavailable or lost. This is especially important if the transport breaks down or cargo remains parked for longer periods, as the tracker can continue operating independently and send timely alerts about temperature changes. EYE Sensors EN12830 measure and transmit real-time temperature readings throughout the entire journey. They provide highly precise measurements and are certified to a temperature class of ±0.5 °C, meaning the difference between the actual and measured temperatures will not exceed ±0.5 °C. With an operating range of –20 °C to +60 °C, this level of precision and continuous tracking ensures that semiconductors, lithium batteries, microchips, and other electronic components are always protected from harmful fluctuations. EYE Sensors also monitor humidity and it adds an extra layer of protection, as excessive moisture can lead to corrosion, short circuits, or degradation of sensitive components. Each sensor can also store up to 33,000 temperature measurements, which can be accessed via the Teltonika EN12830 EYE APP or integrated into the company’s chosen software platform if required. EYE APP also allows exporting logs for audits, inspections, or compliance checks, ensuring clear proof that sensitive electronics were transported under safe conditions. To simplify operations further, every sensor comes with a unique ID, making it easy to identify and track multiple assets. For electronics shipments, this ensures that temperature and humidity records are always tied to the correct batch of semiconductors, circuit boards, or lithium batteries, preventing mix-ups, improving traceability, and maintaining full control across complex supply chains. Both EYE Sensors and the FMC234 tracker have IP67-rated casings, making them resistant to dust and moisture. This durability ensures that the entire monitoring solution remains reliable under harsh logistics conditions. Together, these devices provide full cargo traceability, actionable insights, and a dependable audit trail that helps companies protect valuable electronics, avoid warranty claims, and maintain uninterrupted supply chains TOPOLOGY BENEFITS Real-time monitoring – ensures that temperature and humidity levels are constantly tracked during the entire delivery process, protecting components from harmful environmental changes. Precise temperature readings – EN12830-certified EYE Sensors provide highly accurate measurements within ±0.5 °C, crucial for safeguarding semiconductors, lithium batteries, and microchips. Built-in memory safeguards data integrity – each sensor can store up to 33,000 temperature records, preserving data even during connectivity interruptions. • Vaccine Distribution

Vaccines save millions of lives every year. Immunization has proved its immense value in preventing such diseases as measles, polio, diphtheria and many more VACCINE DISTRIBUTION INTRO Vaccines save millions of lives every year. Immunization has proved its immense value in preventing such diseases as measles, polio, diphtheria and many more. Recent developments show that its significance will only continue to rise with the COVID-19 pandemic clearly indicating how fragile our world is. Vaccines are vital for getting back to regular life and effective logistics solutions are needed to make sure they are delivered in proper quality. CHALLENGE Transporting vaccines safely and rapidly is as important as the development and manufacturing processes. The doses can only serve their purpose if they are delivered undamaged. Based on World Health Organization estimations , approximately half of the vaccines distributed around the world, unfortunately, go to waste. What makes them such sensitive cargo? First and foremost, it is the temperature at which vaccines must be stored at. It can range from 2-8°C up to ultracold -80°C depending on a specific drug and short or long-term storage. If temperature controls fail, vaccines spoil meaning that all efforts to deliver them to the needed are in vain. When it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic, no similar scenarios can be allowed as too much is at stake with entire countries being under lockdowns and experiencing many other restrictions. Managing hundreds of millions of doses in transit is another tremendous challenge. Coronavirus has brought the world to an unprecedented situation. Vaccines are equally in demand across the globe at the very exact time. The amounts are enormous, thus, careful planning plus robust monitoring capabilities are required to ensure effective logistics. In addition to the sheer volume that has to be shipped, supply chains are further aggravated by the urgency and the need for precision in distribution. Not only the long-awaited COVID-19 vaccine itself, delivering many immunization-related equipment and medical supplies is actually a matter of life and death. Without delay and right there where it is needed – this is the challenge that logistics, delivery services and pharmaceutical companies face alike. No place on Earth is immune to viruses, which means that doses to fight various diseases are needed by people in very diverse places, including remote and hard-to-reach locations. Some of them might not have proper road infrastructure or modern means of transportation. All this raises the risk that precious cargo might not safely reach its final destination, not excluding the danger of thefts either. Keeping track of the whole transportation process – from the manufacturer to last-mile delivery – is essential. SOLUTION Challenges with distributing vaccines are many and Teltonika Telematics is ready to offer solutions to meet them aptly. Among a wide range of tracking devices, FMC130 is one of the finest choices for the industries involved in delivering immunization supplies. This advanced 4G LTE Cat 1 GPS tracker has a fallback to the 2G network, ensuring the best possible coverage and very reliable connectivity. How it works - Teltonika trackers support Bluetooth® wireless technology, which is key in ensuring that the required temperatures are maintained throughout the entire time while vaccines are being transported. Using this technology, GPS trackers are connected with Bluetooth® sensors that monitor cargo temperature. The values to watch are configured depending on a particular vaccine’s specifications. Certain Bluetooth® sensors, equipped with external probes, can monitor temperatures as low as -80°C, this way meeting even the most stringent requirements for the supply chain, including the COVID-19 vaccines. Whenever a diversion from the set limits occurs, a notification is sent. The company in charge of transportation, being alerted, can take prompt actions to find out the reason and remedy the situation. Bluetooth® sensors from different manufacturers are available on the market. If Bluetooth® sensors broadcast their data, the clients can connect them to our trackers using advanced configuration settings. In case it is a connection-type Bluetooth® sensors, they can be used by proceeding with the firmware development. Besides making certain that vaccines are transported, stored and handled at tightly controlled temperatures, GPS tracking devices facilitate distribution by giving the possibility to track shipments in real time. The ability to know where the cargo is at any given time, and to be notified immediately if something goes wrong, is essential to the effectiveness of the delivery process. This is exactly what GPS tracking is about. Our trackers provide accurate location-based information with many additional data to make wise and appropriate decisions. Changes and adjustments can be implemented on the go to optimise routes, prevent delays and solve unforeseen situations. The ultimate goal is precise and timely deliveries – even taking into account the massive scale and urgency of the COVID-19 vaccines’ logistics operations. Valuable cargos tend to be a target for thefts and vaccines are no exception. Especially when they are in such high demand as is the case with the COVID-19 pandemic. Teltonika Telematics has an anti-theft solution that effectively prevents package losses by combining a GPS tracker with a CAN adapter . The solution – perfect for delivery services – can be applied with great results when distributing vaccines as well. An alarm button is another measure that substantially increases the safety of both – drivers and cargo. In the event of a troubled situation – be it an accident on the road or any other kind of danger – a notification will be sent to call for assistance from the company’s side. FMx130 series devices feature negative input that allows for saving time while connecting alarm buttons, vehicle door sensors and other accessories. To know precisely when the shipments are delivered or already close to delivery, geofences can be used. These are the virtual boundaries of a desired perimeter – once crossed, a pre-defined notification (alarm buzzer, SMS, email, etc.) will be activated. Similarly, it can be recorded when vaccines or other supplies leave a specified territory. Having a large fleet inevitably means dealing with maintenance issues. With the help of GPS trackers, fleet maintenance can be turned into an automated process making sure that vehicles are kept in good condition. Otherwise, unexpected breakdowns can cause serious disruptions in the supply chain and may even lead to ruining vaccines if the storage conditions fall behind the needed level. Besides, our tracker FMC130 offers additional functions and features to build and preserve effective distribution: working without the external power source, CAN data reading, and various scenarios including Overspeeding detection, Excessive Idling detection, Towing detection, etc. Moreover, our extensive product portfolio allows us to choose tracking devices that best suit the client’s needs and priorities – in terms of network technology, modes of transportation, installation costs, local laws and regulations, and more. In fact, the tracking devices of Teltonika, one of the leading manufacturers in the telematics industry, are already widely used across the globe. Suppose a company engaged in transporting vaccines has already installed our trackers, for example, only the ability to monitor temperature is lacking. In that case, it is very easy to fix the situation. Bluetooth® sensors can be added to the fleet and trackers with Bluetooth® functionality and the latest firmware will detect them to start sending data once the configuration is complete. Updating firmware or changing configuring is simple and convenient as it is done remotely using our dedicated tool FOTA WEB . TOPOLOGY BENEFITS Precise temperature monitoring up to -80°C – maintaining vaccines in controlled temperatures until their final destination. • The Distribution Of Pharmaceuticals

Using Teltonika GPS devices for cold chain monitoring ensures that pharmaceuticals remain at the right temperature throughout the supply chain THE DISTRIBUTION OF PHARMACEUTICALS INTRO In the complex process of transporting and storing pharmaceuticals, keeping temperature-sensitive products safe is crucial. Cold chain monitoring ensures that they remain at the correct temperature throughout the supply chain, maintaining product quality. This includes proper storage in warehouses, pharmacies, and hospitals. Even minor temperature deviations can degrade active ingredients, reducing their efficacy or even making them unsafe for patients. CHALLENGE A major challenge in pharmaceutical logistics is preventing temperature fluctuations. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) , up to 20% of temperature-sensitive products are damaged during transport due to broken cold chains. This results in financial losses of around $35 billion each year, not to mention the potential risks to patients posed by compromised medications that may lose their efficacy or become harmful. The pharmaceutical industry is subject to stringent regulations, such as Good Distribution Practice (GDP) , which require the continuous monitoring and accurate documentation of storage conditions. Failure to comply can result in legal repercussions, financial penalties, and reputational damage. Adherence to these standards is a complex and resource-intensive process. According to the African Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the African Development Bank, less than 30% of pharmaceutical products consumed in Africa are manufactured locally. The continent also imports an astonishing 99% of its vaccines, as well as between 70% and 90% of its medicines and medical devices. This means that pharmaceutical goods often travel long distances, frequently passing through several countries and continents before reaching their destination. In such cases, it is critically important to maintain the correct temperature throughout the entire transportation chain to ensure the efficacy and safety of the pharmaceuticals. Many clinics and pharmacies still rely on manual temperature monitoring for medicines and vaccines. Typically, refrigerator or freezer temperatures are recorded by hand at scheduled intervals using thermometers and logbooks. This method is time-consuming and can easily lead to errors, such as missing information or writing down incorrect numbers. Such errors can make it difficult to adhere to the relevant regulations and delay the resolution of any issues. Pharmaceutical supply chains involve multiple modes of transport, storage facilities, and international shipments in varying climates. Each transition point introduces the potential for temperature deviations, which makes it challenging to maintain consistent temperature control and increases the likelihood of product spoilage. Luckily, Teltonika GPS devices can be of great assistance in this matter. SOLUTION To successfully overcome the previously mentioned challenges, we use Teltonika FMC234 vehicle GPS tracker alongside EYE Sensor EN12830 model and the EN12830 EYE APP . • Discreet Vehicle Monitoring With Asset Tracker

Monitor your vehicles discreetly with a wireless TAT140 asset tracker. Gain real-time insights and enhance security DISCREET VEHICLE MONITORING WITH ASSET TRACKER INTRO Vehicle theft remains a growing challenge, reaching new heights in some countries. It is a major concern for fleet owners in the leasing and rental industry. Fortunately, Teltonika asset GPS trackers can help overcome this challenge and help businesses save valuable resources and avoid inconvenience. CHALLENGE Car theft is a real headache for fleet managers and business owners, especially those involved in leasing and car rental. According to NICB, more than 1 million cars were stolen in the US alone in 2022, reaching such a number for the first time since 2008. Fleet News provides data on increased vehicle thefts in the first half of 2022 as lockdown restrictions were lifted. Regular vehicle trackers help to solve this concern, but they are harder to hide because they need to be connected to a power source – vehicle battery. Experienced thieves expect to find a GPS tracker and will try to locate it, so some solutions require a tracking device that can be easily hidden in different parts of the vehicle without leaving a trace, making it much more difficult for thieves to find and compromise such devices. Finally, companies are always looking for ways to make their operations more efficient. Labour costs are usually a significant part of a company's expenses and having a tracker that doesn't need to be installed and can be placed anywhere in the vehicle would be very useful, especially in countries where labour is expensive. Fortunately, Teltonika Telematics has just the right device to meet all of these challenges. SOLUTION To secure a vehicle wirelessly and reliably, we use TAT140 asset tracker with 4G LTE connectivity. It's very easy to hide anywhere in the car, there is no need to connect any wires, and it provides accurate GNSS location tracking. How it works - Teltonika TAT140 model can send records in a variety of ways depending on the exact project requirements: Movement-based periodic tracking , where can be chosen different tracking periods when the vehicle is moving and when not. So, fleet owners can choose to report more frequently when the vehicle is on the move and less frequently when it's parked to extend battery life. Managers can also choose to receive only movement events . In this way, TAT140 would send separate records when the vehicle starts to move without location data (if the GNSS fix was successfully caught last time), allowing the record to be sent faster and the vehicle owner to be informed of the movement. Thus, the fleet manager would be informed and could take immediate action if the vehicle starts moving when it shouldn't. The third option is to use the weekly scheduler , where operators and managers can simply choose to receive records at the specified time on selected days. For example, two records on a regular day and three records per day on days when the crime rate is higher in a particular area. Another key advantage of this solution is that TAT140 is in Sleep mode most of the time. This means that if thieves use a signal scanner to find the tracker, they won't be able to detect it while it's in Sleep mode and won't be able to remove it. Later, the asset GPS tracker would wake up to send the periodic or scheduled record that confirms the vehicle's location. In the event of a theft, a fleet operator or manager can activate the Recovery mode of TAT140, enabling frequent reporting and greatly increasing the chances of finding and recovering the stolen vehicle. The Recovery mode can be triggered by a simple SMS/GPRS command. Please note that the tracker would only respond to the command if it wakes up according to the periodic or scheduled tracking settings. TOPOLOGY BENEFITS Reliable car theft prevention and recovery - TAT140 periodically reports vehicle location and enters recovery mode when required. Quick and easy to install - the asset tracker is wireless and runs on an internal battery, so there is no need to run any wires or mount it in a special place. Easy to hide - TAT140 tracking device can be placed differently in each vehicle and has no wires so it's hard to find. Increased vehicle security – Teltonika TAT140 spends most of its time in Sleep mode, making it undetectable by signal scanners used by some thieves. Operates independently - the asset GPS tracker operates from its internal battery and is not dependent on the vehicle battery or other external factors. WHY TELTONIKA? When discretion is required, Teltonika delivers. Our compact asset trackers offer accurate GPS tracking while remaining virtually undetectable. Designed for car-sharing services, rental companies and corporate fleets, these innovative devices offer essential security features, such as motion detection, remote monitoring and anti-tampering alerts - ensuring valuable assets are protected without compromise. With hassle-free integration into fleet management systems, Teltonika's tracking solutions provide companies with much-needed visibility, improved risk mitigation, and data-driven insights. By choosing Teltonika, businesses are investing in a robust, discreet monitoring system that enhances safety, optimises fleet operations, and gives peace of mind in an increasingly competitive marketplace. How it works - installed FMT100 model continuously tracks vehicle of interest location and journey whereabouts in real-time and sends relevant data via GSM network to dedicated servers. Certainly, that includes all occasions when a driver enters and exits any paid road section in the country. Based on this information and integration with the e-TOLL payment management system, the vehicle owner (private or corporate) will be automatically and timely charged a fee pre-defined by National Revenue Administration. This way, the process of manually paying road fees on the e-TOLL website or app (or forgetting to pay) has been eliminated for good. As a result, the payment routine has been fully automated, helping fleet drivers and owners not only save precious time but to avoid pricey mistakes and penalties. • GPS Trackers For Digital Tachograph Monitoring

The logistics industry is strictly regulated in most parts of the world and especially in Europe, where digitization of tachographs is mandatory DIGITAL TACHOGRAPH MONITORING INTRO Every day, millions of trucks travel the highways and roads of our planet, delivering goods far and wide. The logistics industry is highly regulated in most parts of the world, especially in Europe, where tachograph digitalisation is mandatory. This makes it a perfect environment for implementing a remote data download and monitoring solution. CHALLENGE Violations of working hours and rest periods are a common concern in the logistics industry. Companies are often fined hundreds or even thousands of euros for these infringements. In addition, the European market is regulated by specific institutions that require to submit the data from digital tachographs every month and in the correct form. The companies can download the data by physically going to the vehicles and connecting directly to the tachographs. However, this may be simple if you only have a few trucks, but it becomes a serious concern when you have to manage hundreds of them. Firstly, it is time-consuming. Second, the management process is complicated. Thirdly, it is not always possible. For example, your office is in Austria and your truck is sent to Spain for three months. In this scenario, you will not be able to get the files easily. Fortunately, Teltonika has a solution to help. SOLUTION We offer a complete solution to avoid the problems and headaches associated with managing digital tachograph files. It consists of Teltonika’s GPS tracking device and a dedicated software application. How it works - the first component is a vehicle GPS tracker from Teltonika PROFESSIONAL category - FMC650 or FMM650 . Each device can receive driver card data in .DDD or .TGD, .V1B, .C1B formats (depending on the region), live tachograph data, and enriched tachograph/FMS data (TachoCAN) – all through the same CAN line, making installation easier. The devices can also read live data from digital tachographs via the K-line connection. Detailed installation instructions can be found in the user manual of the respective tracker model. The next solution’s component is a software to automate downloads and manage digital tachograph files. There are two ways to do this. You can develop your own and, if you choose this scenario, you will be provided with a special communication protocol to integrate tachograph files from Teltonika PROFESSIONAL devices. Alternatively, you skip the development part and choose a solution already tailored to work with FMC650 and FMM650 models – Teltonika’s TachoSync . Designed as a SaaS solution, TachoSync can be accessed via an internet browser and does not require a complex implementation or server installation. One of its biggest advantages is that after the initial setup, you will receive files and data automatically, as the application will request tachograph files from the required vehicles based on the custom schedule created by the user. What is more, TachoSync is designed for solution providers – it allows to create a company hierarchy with dedicated lists of devices, users, companies and driver card details. This way, the data is easy to manage and available only to authorised users. Once downloaded, tachograph files can be stored in a cloud or forwarded via TachoSync API to a third-party solution, for example, a fleet management platform or a tachograph analytics solution. A combination of Teltonika hardware and software allows you to achieve two goals. Firstly, you will automate the download of the required files from digital tachographs and submit them to the authorities on time. Secondly, you can always monitor the activity of drivers using live tachograph data and receive notifications if their behaviour is unacceptable, for example, if they spend too many hours on the road. In addition, you will be able to obtain all other information from the trucks using Teltonika PROFESSIONAL series GPS trackers." In order to assure a smooth and easy installation, FMC650 and FMM650 can be provided together with additional accessories: a dedicated Tachograph or FMS cables . You can also read data from minibuses that run on a 12 V system using the optional Tacho Front Panel Cable . Activate the front panel interface on the tachograph, connect the cable and you are ready to go. Read more about the technical aspects of this use case here . TOPOLOGY BENEFITS Easy to manage tachograph reports – the solution will help save you and your customers time and effort spent going out and plugging directly into trucks' tachographs. Easily accessible software – our software is web-based, so you can access it from any device, anywhere in the world. If you choose to develop your software, you can design it completely yourself. Secure tachograph file storage – data is stored on a secure server and can only be accessed by users you authorise. Variety of supported tachograph files – we support not only the standard DDD file extension but also Spanish TGD and French V1B / C1B file formats. Efficient fleet management – by providing real-time data on vehicle location and driver activity, these Teltonika GPS trackers enable optimised scheduling and route planning, improving operational efficiency. Improved driver safety – monitoring driving and rest times promotes safer driving practices, reduces fatigue-related incidents and prioritises driver well-being. Data-driven decision making – access to detailed reports on fleet performance and driver behaviour enables data-driven strategies that streamline logistics operations for improved results. WHY TELTONIKA? Teltonika’s telematics division is at the forefront of digital tachograph monitoring, offering a solution that is both innovative and user-friendly. Our FMC650 and FMM650 vehicle GPS trackers are specifically designed to meet the challenges faced by the logistics industry in complying with digital tachograph regulations. These intelligent devices simplify the process of downloading and managing tachograph files, a task that has traditionally been time-consuming and complex, especially for companies managing large fleets. Choosing Teltonika means more than just meeting regulatory requirements; it means partnering with us to achieve operational excellence. Our technology ensures compliance and improves overall fleet management.
